NEW: Watch tower being developed

The functionalities of the Balpro™ Protector modular fortification system will soon include a watch tower

A watch tower is under development to augment the Balpro™ Protector system.

The watch tower height may be chosen by using either full length 6 metre elements or split 3 metre elements for the tower.

The watch tower will be available in 2013. Below is a conceptual picture of a shelter equipped with a watch tower.

The Finnish Defence Forces order modular ballistic shields and protected containers from Kenno Tech

Kenno Tech wins 1,4 M€ order

Kenno Tech is pleased to announce that the Finnish Defence Forces have placed an order with a total worth of about 1,4 M€ for modular ballistic shield systems and protected containers. The deliveries will start this year and continue into 2013.

Both products have been designed to meet the specific needs of the Finnish Defence Forces. High technology plays an important role in ensuring that the armour steel retains its protective characteristics all over the steel elements.

The Finnish Defence Forces order KSJ ballistic shield systems

Kenno Tech is pleased to announce that the Finnish Defence Forces have placed an order with a total worth of approximately 0,8 M€ for KSJ ballistic shield system sets designed to their specification. The deliveries will span over the first half of 2011.

This is the first volume order of the system after several years of development and fabrication of proto type and pilot series shields for testing by the Army. The system has been revised and fintuned according to the input and results of the Army´s tests and exercises.

One ballistic shield system set comprises 7 shield elements, each of which is 6 metres long. The multi-use elements may be assembled for instance to form a camp wall or a shelter. For transport one set acts as a 20 ft container equivalent. Kenno Tech has developed the system in co-operation with the Finnish Defence Forces.

Nato Stock Numbers assigned for the KSJ System

Nato Stock Numbers (NSN) have now been assigned for the “standard” KSJ system and its system components.

A “standard” KSJ system set of seven elements includes one element fitted with a door. It is naturally possible to specify any number of elements with a door in an order for a KSJ system by composing the order with the individual system component part numbers.

For details please see page KSJ System Components.

New Kenno Shield system features introduced

The elements of the KSJ Element System now feature two pairs of legs per element. This provides added safety and redundancy both for erecting the elements and in operational use as if one leg on one side is damaged, the element will still be supported by the remaining leg.

The legs are equipped with load spreading pads and they may be spread to two different widths as shown in the picture below.

One possible application of the KSJ Element System is to construct a shelter, and for this a door of course is required. One 20 ft sea container compatible set of 7 elements makes up a shelter: 4 elements as walls and 3 elements make up the roof. In the picture below a shelter is under construction. The construction of the shelter takes a couple of hours.

It is now possible to specify a door as an option to any number of KSJ Element System elements.
